Maybe if we consider Fallout Tactics canon enough, then the BOS is just absolutely OP in the center (otherwise they are dispersed and weak), while the enclave is almost extinct by now, and the NCR is unbeatable in the whole west, but still, I can only wish one thing to ever see again in a fallout game... I want the intelligent deathclaws back

But in tactics the chapter you're with is cut off from the west coast chapter because of a botched expedition via aircraft and the only reason they thrive is because they started to allow outsiders to enter fairly easily.

And the East coast is also cut off from the West coast, that's the problem with BOS, but if they have those at the center then that won't be an issue anymore, also, they seem to be the only ones with Tanks, APC, and other vehicles around, if they join the commonwealth's chapter then there is no way to beat them
Maybe in the future there'll be NCR West Coast Vs BOS East Coast war for control of the whole US territory, that would be awesome XD
My bets would go to the BOS there

East coast wasn't just cut off, they were vilified and labeled as an illegitimate chapter by the rest of the brotherhood until Lyons died, and shortly after his next of kin Sarah. Then Maxson was elected by the
council and the High Elder re-recognized East Coast as a legitimate chapter. So yeah, the brotherhood has always suffered from conflict in their ideology, too many people want to make the brotherhood be something else so it stays stagnant. As for tactics I generally consider it non-canon because it conflicts with too many things. East Coast and Commonwealth are also the same chapter.

I'm actually writing a story about that right now.
